They can be Soft
A soft squishy back can be heaven to lean into. A down and feather blend filled insert is the softest, giving way under your weight and holding you in a warm embrace. For a slightly firmer cushion we use a fluffy polyester filling that has the soft organic look of a down/feather insert but with more resistance.

Many people require more support than a solid down/feather fill or polyester fill can provide. In these cases we start with a foam core and wrap it in down/feather or polyester batting. The foam core gives the back excellent, durable, no-sag structure. This option is often employed for very deep furniture. The thickness of the foam acts to reduce the depth of the seat and allows the user to sit more upright.

Your old back cushion inserts will give out with normal use. Being that they are usually filled with polyester they will begin to sag and wad up, loose height and the ability to provide consistent support. Refilling your covers with new inserts out of either down/feather, polyester, or for firmer support a foam core can save your back from misery.
